KARACHl: In what appears to be an attempt to make inroads into a traditionally Urduspeaking neighbourhood where onceunified Muttahida Qaumi Movement was also headquartered Pak Sarzameen Pany chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal has told a workers` convention in Azizabad that the Mohajir community has rejected the politics of ethnicity and it wants to be a pan of issues-based politics.
`I am proud to be a Mohajir, but we cannot take decisions merely on this [ethnic] basis.
The Mohajir politics gave us nothing but isolation from other ethnicities,` he said, while speaking to the workers of his pany`s Central district chapter, particularly those living in the NA-246 constituency.
PSP leaders said that the event was pan of mobilising pany cadres for the preparations of the upcoming general election.
Mr Kamal said that those who were representing the Urdu-speaking community were the sole reason for the problems the people were facing.
`I will not create division [on the basis of ethnicities]…I will not deviate from my stand even if a single Mohajir does not stand by me.
He said. The former Karachi mayor said the incumbent elected representatives of Karachi had failed to solve civic problems related to water supply and sewerage in the city and they could not even dare to knock people`s door to ask for their votes for the next elections.
`How could they ask for their votes..will the people of Karachi give them vote only because of the word Mohajir?`
He said that in a short span of two years the message of the PSP had reached all across the city and the country.
He said the PSP would go into election with its dolphin symbol.
PSP leaders Anis Kaimkhani and others were also present.
